Sales exempt from VAT (UK-specific)

It may be that you have chosen not to become VAT registered if, for example, your annual sales are below the £85,000 threshold. Remember that even if your company is not VAT registered, it doesn’t automatically mean that your sales are exempt from VAT.

This is why we highly recommend checking this with your accountant. You can also read more here.

If your company is not VAT registered, you can update your account settings to reflect this under My account - Company contact information. Here you can change your VAT return period to Not VAT-registered.

Creating an invoice as a VAT exempt company

1. Go to the Invoices tab and click on Create invoice.
2. Choose the invoice type Sales exempt from VAT under Invoicing settings.

3. This will remove the VAT column and all other mentions  of VAT from your invoice, e.g. Net total.
